Adventures in the Amazon Forest

Jumelanio, Lambisgoio and Xilosfenio started their trip in Iquitos, Peru known as one of the main cities of the Amazon. Actually there are over 1.000 rivers that contribute with water to form the entire Amazon River, and this trip would help them to understand how this sea sized river was formed. Actually their only way to arrive at Iquitos was by air or water, as there are no roads leading to Iquito.

There they headed in direction to the Amazon Forest in Brazil, to continue their trip. For most of their trip they were accompanied by Botos, or the Pink Dolhpin. They met several cities in what is known in Brazil as Solimoes River, there were several small settlements and indian tribes in the margin of the river. Where they had the opportunity to taste several fruits and the local food.

They arrived at Encontro das Aguas or Meeting of Waters, where the brown waters of the Solimoes (or Amazon) meets the dark water of Rio Negro. It was one of the most breathtaking views of their lives. Two giant rivers meeting and the different waters co-exhisting due to their differences. Soon they've arrived at Manaus the largest city on the banks of the Rio Negro. It was mainly developed by the investments of the Rubber Boom, and one the main landmarks of the city is the Large Theatre built in the end of the 19th Century. The market selling fishes, fruits and all sorts of Amazon Forest gifts. The combination and disparity of this large city and the forest was as great as the Meeting of Waters.

Going back to the main body of the Amazon River it was spectacular - it wasn't possible to see both sides of land, They were heading through the "Sea River" and heading east. They've arrived in Parintins, right at the time of their "Folk Festival" where the city is split in Blue and Red and there's a great theatrical spectacle. Thousands of people were having fun and engaging at this annual event at Bumbodromo a beautiful stadium built for this event as well as in the streets.

They ended their trip at the Amazon Estuary with the river flowing to the Atlantic Ocean, next to the Marajo Island and several smaller islands. Days of Travel to cross the most amazing body of water on Earth.
